Your First 365 Days in Real Estate, starting today.

I got to the office really early the other day. I do that, so that I can have time, space and silence to concentrate on tasks I really need to complete, but don’t want to do. Please read that as “paperwork”. I had paperwork I didn’t want to do.

As I put on the final touches of my email explaining an addendum, I heard the buzz of the front door and a bright young lady walked in. We hadn’t met, I was sure because of my vampire-like hour keeping. She told me she had just passed the National and State exams. The look on her face showed pure relief. It took me back into my own stress tremors I had trying to hurdle her exact same achievement. She went on to explain that she felt lost and confused now that she was a licensed Realtor®️. She said she didn’t know what she was doing and that a more seasoned agent had told her that “everybody gets their teeth kicked in the first year”.  While that is an extremely crass way to say that the first year will be one of the hardest challenges of your life, it is true.

From today on, my goal is to help this lovely lady, and other rookie realtors find the tools and motivation they need to be successful in their first year. I’d love for you to join me so we can build a network of support for each other. I cannot see how it helps anyone, including seasoned agents, to leave a person flailing in the dark. We are better together than we will ever be alone.

I’d love to hear your stories, your comments, your success and the “well I shit the bed on that one, didn’t I?” screw ups. Let’s learn from each other. What’s the best that can happen right?

Until then, keep your feet moving, chin up … and burn the white flag.
