Top 5 New Real Estate Agent Habits

“What did you do to be a successful real estate agent” is probably the question I get the most.

I recently saw an extremely funny video that inspired this blog post today. It was of a woman mildly ranting about how she asked her friend who she admired and respected how she started her business and what steps she took. The author of the video was annoyed when she received “you gotta work hard. It’s a lot of sleepless nights”. She wanted steps. She wanted actual things she could apply.

When I wrote the book Your First 365 Days In Real Estate, I made sure that I answered this question in detail. I’ll give a quick overview of it here to get you started.

Top 5 New Agent Habits

1.     Be a Sponge – Put yourself in situations where you can learn from seasoned agents and then just listen, learn and if they offer you a growth opportunity say yes no matter what.

2.     Have a Business Mindset – The day you pass the real estate exam is the day you started a business. Implement the habits of a business owner.

3.     Daily Routine – You are now a business. Your day starts at 6am and should be time blocked with specific activities. There’s more detail on those activities in the book.

4.     Grind – this is often the answer most people give to this question. “I worked really hard.” It’s only 1/5th of the equation but is still important.

5.     Connect – You must make your calls, scheduling face to face visits and do your note writing daily.

While there are many more habits to implement, start with these and we’ll work on the rest in the near future.  If you’d like to see the video, it is on our facebook page -> https://www.facebook.com/newagent365

I’d love to hear what secret gems other agents have guided you towards that have made a significant impact on your business. Leave me a comment!

Until then, keep your feet moving, chin up … and burn the white flag.
