A Less Lonely Road – The Visionary

Have you ever sat across from someone and listened to them talk about their passion? From the very beginning you could just feel the energy of their inspiration become infectious in your own view of things? Or … maybe you just had too much coffee.

There have been many times that after a conversation like that, I have decided to change the way I acted, thought, wondered, dreamed, evaluated, or reconsidered my limits and what I was willing to risk.

The Visionary position is, in my opinion, the hardest to find. It’s a special person who has the vision to change the industry and push the boundaries. Take your time and talk to a lot of people before you commit.

Position #1 – The Coach (if you missed the first post on positions, read the Coach first.)

Position #2 – The Mentor (don’t cheat, read the Mentor post first.)

Position #3 – The Visionary

Characteristics:

  • Should be a realtor, lender, title rep

  • Industry leader

  • A strategic thinker

  • Engaging speaker

  • Inspiring ideas

  • Willing to share

  • A risk taker

  • Has a mindset of abundance

  • Treats folks fairly

  • Extremely accountable

Exercise:

1.     Make a list of everyone in your life that holds the above attributes.

2.     Once a week meet with one of them face to face.

3.     Ask them broad brush questions about how they feel about the industry, its future, and spaces of opportunity. If they are unable, or unwilling to share their thoughts, move on.

4.     Choose a Visionary and follow them on all their social media accounts. Meet up with them again around the time you do your business plan in September.
